This site was created for the New Orleans Class and trip that I am participating in with Christa McAuliffe Academy. Each of us chose a topic pertaining to New Orleans and created a website about it.

During the War of 1812 New Orleans was a prime location.  Whoever had control of New Orleans had a lot of control over the Mighty Mississippi River.  They could also ship supplies to their troops in Texas and Mexico.

The War of 1812 was fought between England, France and the United States.  It was fought because the Brittish were kidnapping American sailors and taking over american ships, were trying to convince the Native American indians to attack the frontier ,and and had not left forts on American soil.
